Goal Setting For Uncertain Times

9:45 am Personal Goal Setting

Goal setting is the foundation to self motivation and is applicable at all times. However, goal setting for uncertain times requires one to be even more realistic and determined.

Goal setting is all about identifying the dreams that you want to turn into reality. It starts with writing them out. This is the first step to crystallizing your dreams. Then the dreams should be grouped or categorized and set in priority. Once your top priority dreams have been identified you then need to determine if you are willing to pay the price to make them a reality.

Paying the price to make a dream a reality is being realistic and is a must during uncertain times. The price has to be identified before the goal is set. The price could be in the form of money, but can also be other things as well. It could require additional education, a change in habits or require more effort, or time, than what you are normally used to.

It could have an impact on your relationship. These are the sort of costs that you must identify before setting the goal, because if you are not willing to pay the price, you will not realize the dream. Therefore don’t set the goal.

Once you have identified the price you are willing to pay to make a dream a reality in uncertain or certain times, you can then proceed to set the goal in specific and measurable terms. Then it is the action that follows that will make the difference in goal setting. That is what is under your control, not the certainty or uncertainty of the economy.

The action plan that you lay out, supporting your goal, should be in simple small steps that can be done on a daily basis. That will keep you focused, disciplined and moving forward in the right direction. Goal setting, and it’s outcomes, then become more certain.
