Today’s Economy Needs More Trained Sales System People

In today’s economy, more sales training is required to help organizations make it through the tough times ahead. Without appropriate sales training, you will not be able to maintain your sales results, let alone your sales team.
Sales training helps sales professional understand how customers buy, and how they have created a system to protect themselves from sales people. If a sales person doesn’t realize that the customer is in control because of this system, they will be wasting time.
However, if a sales professional is trained on a sales results system, they can be in control while the customer thinks they are in control. Sales training on a sales system allows for a step by step approach to sales, monitoring and reporting. Sales training on a sales system saves time and shortens sales cycles, increases margin, builds relationships and get the sales results everyone is looking for.
The increase in sales results pays for the sales training many times over.
Sales training should also be an ongoing activity, not a one day flavor of the month. Sales people learn in a seminar, but the real learning comes through application on the street. That is experiential learning at it’s best. Sales training as a minimum should be quarterly, if not weekly in sales meetings.
However, ongoing sales training and coaching needs to be provided for ongoing behavioral change. Sales people learn from their mistakes, but sales people need to express their lessons learned on an ongoing basis as well. It is that ongoing sharing that contributes to the learning from real life experiences.
Sales training supported by audio, video, books and other learning tools is also another important element for consideration as everyone has different learning styles.
Having said the above, if you are not providing ongoing sales training to your sales people quarterly, you are not getting the sales results that you could be getting.
