Greetings from Ottawa, Canada,
After leaving Dubai last Monday I arrived home in the midst of one of the biggest snow storms on record, with over 40cm of snow already on the ground. Winter is here, and it is beautiful.
Upon arrival my son Dave picked me up and off to a restaurant we went to celebrate my wife’s birthday. She had no idea I was back and was not expecting me back for another two weeks.
After Joan, Mike and Dave, my two sons got seated, I snuck up from behind and covered Joan’s eyes with my hands. She could not guess who it was. When she removed my hands and saw me, tears of joy and surprise were all over her. She was so happy to have me back for her birthday, and I was so happy to be there for her.
Besides celebrating her birthday it was a very busy week settling back in. It took a day to clean up the snow from the driveway and walkways around the house. Then we baby sat our Grand Daughter Mikka for the day. She is now 18 months old – extremely courious, active, talkative and laughing all the time. What a joy to be with.
I must admit, it is nice to be home, especially this time of year. Now that I am just about caught up with everything, it is time to get the Christmas tree and start decorating for the upcoming Holiday Season.
This is a time of year to give. Consider giving a present with a future.
This week we are providing you with some tips on when to use Conflict Strategies. Next week we will share how to manage dysfunctional behaviors in meetings. So, stay tuned!
Have a G.R.E.A.T. week!
