The e-Minute Tips on Motivation, Leadership and Sales

Being Thankful

Discipline is the key. Discipline is respecting a commitment to yourself and doing what you have to do, even when you don’t want to do it."
Bob Urichuck

How do you respond if someone asks, “How are you today?”  “Not bad, good, okay, so-so, tired, sore, better than yesterday.”   Is this you, or was this you?  How should you respond?  Write down your answers.

Now that you have counted your blessings, your response is probably more appreciative and enthusiastic than it was before.   I respond with words that reflect my joy for living and my appreciation for what I have and where I am going.  Consider the difference this will make to your attitude, and the attitude of others toward you.

Be thankful for everything you listed, every day.   Live every day with an attitude of gratitude.  You have so much to be thankful for.  And if you want more, you will have to give more.  Get in the habit of giving more than you take.  For example, if you want more compliments, you’re going to have to give more first.  So start thinking of ways of giving.  Get actively involved in your community or in nonprofit organizations and associations related to your type of work.

You are worth a lot -- more than you think.  Take care of yourself, your health, your family and your friends.  Remember, you are alive and you are important. Be thankful for that.  Whatever you decide to do, do your best at it and continually hold, in your mind’s eye, a picture of yourself successfully achieving your goals.  Remember to expect miracles...

Next week, we will summarize some of the disciplines with you. Stay tuned!
