Greetings from Tehran, Iran

After a busy week in Dubai, I am ready for another full week in Iran.

Although I have several keynotes scheduled, I plan to take some personal time to visit parts of Iran, to do a little skiing and to mingle with the interesting people of Tehran.

Tehran, Iran

I have been looking forward to this week for the past month, and I promise to share more about Iran with you next week and if time permits, I will include a video of my travels.

In the meantime, if you haven't had an opportunity to view my video of Dubai, please view it now.

Iran is a large country with a population of 75 million people.

It is the second youngest country in the world, after Jordan, with 70% of its population under the age of 30.

Iran experienced a unique revolution in 1979, which led to the fall of the Shah of Iran; and on February 10th, 2009, the Republic celebrated the 30th anniversary of victory in that revolution.

Tehran is the capital and largest city of Iran, and the administrative center of Tehran Province.

Tehran is a sprawling city at the foot of the Alborz mountain range (the highest point in the Middle East (1,191 m, 3,900 ft)) with an immense network of highways unparalleled in Western Asia.

Tehran is famous for its numerous ski resorts and I intend to ski on the Alborz slopes during my stay here.

Tehran is also well-known for its large museums, art centers, and palace complexes.

Most Iranian industries are headquartered in Tehran. In the 20th century, Tehran faced a large migration of people from all around Iran.

Today, the city contains a mix of various ethnic and religious minorities, and is filled with many historic mosques, churches, synagogues and Zoroastrian fire.

Tehran is the largest city in the Middle East and is the most populated city in South Western Asia with a population of 7,404,515 and approximately 15 million in Greater Tehran.

Iran is one of the main oil producers of OPEC and possesses the second largest gas reserve in the world, following Russia.

Recently, Iran has experienced heavy sanctions by the West, especially in the area of banking; however, the nation is making every effort to be self-sufficient.

Two days ago, Iran launched its navigation satellite into space and thus, becomes the 8th country to be successful with this endeavor.

I will be returning home next week from Tehran via Dubai, Toronto, and onward to Ottawa. I am anxious to get home and give a giant, belated Valentine's hug to my wife and granddaughter.

This week we are providing you with "The recession is here. Sales are down. Bankruptcies on the increase."
