Greetings from Dubai,

When I was last here in December 2008, the recession was beginning to impact the city.

There were announcements that projects were on hold due to financing reductions and excessive layoffs.

Doom and gloom were setting in.

Although these things happened, Dubai is still a vibrant city conducting business as usual.

My schedule, for this short week, includes three keynotes and one and a half days of training.

According to Mohamed Ali Abbar, Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Government of Dubai, Dubai continues to experience sustained net growth with the establishment of new businesses and increased worldwide interest.

While recognizing the fact that Dubai is a fully integrated participant in the global economy and is therefore, not immune to the current worldwide financial slowdown, the self-assured leaders are adjusting to the challenges, and are already making the structural changes necessary to best manage the new economic reality.

The Dubai Government has already set an example with the recent announcement of its budget, focusing on increased public spending to encourage the flow of liquidity in the emirate.

In order to rise above the confidence crisis, Dubai's positive leadership continues to think "new and different" and to show the world that some things are only possible in Dubai.

This coming Saturday is Saint Valentine's Day and I will miss my wife as I board another plane to Tehran, Iran.

Mind you, I will find a special way to express my love for her.

This will be my first visit to Iran and I am looking forward to meeting the people and conducting several keynotes. I also hope to videotape the highlights of my visit and share them with you.

This week we are providing you with "Positive Thinking During Down Times - Is It Possible?"

This Wednesday's Video Learning Program reviews Understanding Discipline and I hope to include some scenes from Dubai.

Next week we will provide you with, "The recession is here. Sales are down. Bankruptcies on the increase." Please, stay tuned!
