Greetings from Cairo Egypt,

We arrived here on the weekend after spending most of last week in Morocco where we visited Casablanca and Marrakesh. Two very interesting, but different cities where French and Arabic are the two main languages spoken.

Casablanca is the largest city with a population of approximately 8 million and is Morocco’s business centre.  They have a large port and over 30km of beeches. Here I am sitting at Sam’s piano at Rick’s café made famous by the movie titled “Casablanca” with Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman taken place during the second world war.  Nothing has changed here in over 50 years.

Marrakesh is a much smaller and the top ranked tourist destination in the Kingdom, and one of the most prestigious Imperial cities, founded in 1070.  It is now two cities in one – the old city, Medina, surrounded by a high brick and mud wall and the new city outside at the edge of the desert and at the foot of rock and snow peaked mountains.  Marrakesh is a historical city filled with beautiful gardens, fountains and souks in every winding alleyway.
