Greetings from home,
Well we are now 12 days into the New Year. Just over a week ago, millions of people around the world had ventured down a well travelled path. This path is commonly paved with bold and sometimes hastily conceived New Year's Resolutions. |
 |
Over 60% of these people will not see their resolutions through to fruition. They will give up within the first 14 to 21 days. We are now entering that period of time.
Will you be one of those statistics or do you sincerely want to make your dream a reality?
Now is the time to control the spin in your life. We all need stability in one form or another. The key word here is: discipline. "Discipline is respecting a commitment to yourself and doing what you have to do even when you don't want to do it."
Two main factors in assembling a successful resolution are: a person's confidence that a change in behaviour is possible and one's commitment to making that change.
All 12 disciplines in "Disciplined for Life, You Are the Author of Your Future", are equally important. However discipline 3, taking control of your life, is often a stumbling block.
The simple things that are under our full control are the most difficult to master. I'm referring to our attitudes, to the way we react to things, to our thoughts, to our self-talk and to our habits. All of these personal facets are truly within our control. Nonetheless, we must ask ourselves if we control them or do they control us?
You have to decide what you want to do. Then, plan it out and discipline yourself to make it happen particularly from the inside out and not the outside in.
I've seen people overcome stuttering; grow from poverty to wealth and from no self-confidence to great confidence in themselves.
You may ask how this is possible. These individuals determined what they wanted for their lives and created a plan. Their plan had concise action steps and with determination they monitored and measured their progress. They literally disciplined themselves to achieve their goals.
I did it and you can too, starting today!
